The UDRI’s Mumbai GIS portal, www.loginmumbai.org, was officially launched on June 7th, 2016, at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) Visitor Centre, Fort. It was followed by a panel discussion with economist & political analyst Ajit Ranade, columnist & media consultant Alok Thakore and Ravina Aggarwal, director of Columbia Global Centers, South Asia. The session was moderated by UDRI trustee and executive committee member Cyrus Guzder.

Login Mumbai is an attempt to bridge the open data access gap for all communities, NGOs, researchers, academic institutions and civil society, to further enhance peoples’ participation in Mumbai’s development and crowdsource issues necessitating public action.

Open Data is a vital tool for empowering research in urban studies. It can be used to initiate dialogue with peers, authorities, and hold them accountable to the city’s infrastructure and services. Today however, citizens’ access to Open Data is a challenge, and often comes at a fee pricing which is out of reach for many.

This project has been developed as part of UDRI’s Digital Inclusion project.
