Event Date: 2nd July 2008
Speaker: Adriana Valdez Yoto
Venue: Rachna Sansad, Academy of Architecture

Adriana Valdez Yoto was part of an artist collective that established a secret residence inside the Providence Place Mall. There she sporadically squatted in and decorated an apartment in an unused space inside the mall. The project extended over a four-year period until the apartment was discovered by mall security in 2007. She has also completed an ethnography of a New York City mall that examines the nexus between shopping, security, and American identity after 9/11, as well as studied the mall’s colonial legacies.
