Anuradha ParmarExecutive Director

Anuradha is an architect and urban planner and has worked for over 15 years on urban development projects in the US, UK and India. Her interest lies in urban regeneration, conservation and regional and environmental planning.

She has worked with local governments, public and private institutions, and the London Olympics Growth Boroughs to implement planning projects. Her work has included the implementation of urban regeneration schemes, stakeholder engagement, capacity building and fundraising.
Prior to the US, she practised as an architect in India. She has a Masters in Community and Regional Planning from UT, Austin and a B. Arch. from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.

Jayashree ChandrasekaranAssociate Director

Jayashree is an architect and urban designer who believes in finding innovative and sustainable solutions to issues plaguing contemporary cities. Her specialisation has provided her with an edge and ability to work across different scales and analyse spaces within the cities through various lenses.

She treasures the influential ability of designers in creating better living environments that are sensitized to human needs. Her master’s thesis titled “An ecological approach towards shaping urban peripheries: case of urban flooding in Chennai city” throws light on ecological and socio- spatial transformations that have led to changing dynamics of peri-urban areas, making the city vulnerable. As an avid urbanist, her work is focused on creating resilient cities that intersect with community-led development.In the past, she has been part of the core planning team of the Eastern Waterfront Project at Mumbai port trust. She has also been part of the CITIIS program (supported by MoHUA, AFD, EU and managed by NIUA) through projects – Haora Riverfront development, Agartala and Green Mobility Corridor at Hubli-Dharwad. Furthermore, her work experience at Urban Design Collective, Chennai has strengthened her skills towards intensive research that is grounded, large-scale mapping, data analysis, stakeholder engagement and capacity-building workshops.She received a Master’s degree in Urban Design with distinction from the School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Anna University, Chennai.

Ninad SansareSenior Research Associate

Ninad is an architect, urban planner, and political scientist with a strong interest in urban governance, spatial planning, and urban resilience. Before joining UDRI, Ninad worked as an assistant professor of urban planning at the LSR School of Architecture. He is currently also associated with the LSRSOA as a visiting professor.

Ninad holds master’s degrees, one in urban planning from TU Delft (Netherlands) and another in political science from IGNOU (New Delhi). He did his bachelor’s in Architecture from the Mumbai University in 2017. Ninad has published various articles in international conferences and magazines. He is keen to study spatial planning practices around the world with the help of institutional analysis. In his free time, Ninad enjoys cooking, reading and playing sitar.

Prerna YadavSenior Research Associate

Prerna is an architect and urbanist with an interest in spatial planning, design and public policy. She has a Master’s in Urban Design from CEPT University and a B.Arch.

Over the years, she has worked with local governments, and public and private institutions in architecture and the urban domain working. She has been associated with prestigious projects like the Central Secretariat and Central Vista, New Delhi, and the Redevelopment of BDD Chawls, Mumbai. A goal-oriented person, Prerna enjoys critically dealing with real-life urban issues and helping resolve them. In her free time, she can often be found reading or planning her next travels.

Elaine AgithSenior Research Associate

Elaine is an urban designer and an architect. Having graduated from CEPT University with a Master of Urban Design and School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi with a Bachelor of Architecture,

she has worked in collaboration with government agencies to prepare master planning strategies and urban design interventions. Her keen interest to comprehend people’s interaction with public spaces often drives her to explore new places and capture these experiences.

Kartiki Pataskar GIS Analyst

Kartiki is an architect and urban planner with over 3 years of experience in research and academia. She has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from BKPS College of Architecture and a Master’s in Urban Planning from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur.

Kartiki has worked with ASCI Hyderabad as a Senior Research Associate and was involved in various Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects, capacity building and training activities. She worked as an Assistant Professor at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), School of Planning Architecture and Design Excellence, Chennai. Her research interests include Urban Resilience, Disaster Management and Coastal Zone Management.

Anaushka Goyal is an architect from Sir J.J. College of Architecture, Mumbai graduated in April 2022. Previously she had worked at Kapadia Associates as Junior Architect, at IMK Architects as an academic intern and as an editorial intern at Re-Thinking the Future (RTF).
