The aim of this brochure is to create awareness about the deterioration of the Fort area, one of the most elegant urban heritage precincts in Mumbai. The hub of financial institutions in the city, the Fort area comprise buildings that are rare pieces of architectural and heritage value. However, today these building are rapidly deteriorating.
With a view to restoring these magnificent architectural ensembles to their deserved glory and conserving their heritage, the Horniman Circle Association has formulated a comprehensive plan for converting the area into the Banking and Financial District of Mumbai. This brochure is a preliminary effort to offer suggestions for the enhancement and conservation of the area.
